"Hi, I am Mikko Lappalainen, born in September 1974, doing some drum banging for As Divine Grace at the moment. I have been a music enthusiast since I was about 8-9 years old, listening to, collecting and later also playing and writing about music.
I study English language/literature and journalism at the University of Turku I still have a few years to go.I have also been editing and publishing an English-written music fanzine, Elysium , since 1992. The zine, out about once a year, deals in depth with any music I find interesting and reviews any stuff within the rock/pop framework that I happen to receive (anyone who wants his/her material reviewed, get in touch!).
The latest issue of the zine can always be mail ordered for US$4 (in Europe) or US$5 (elsewhere) or the equivalent sum in any exchangeable currency (no coins!) postpaid from the address below, if you are interested. Please send cash or suggest a trade for a record/other zine (if you want to trade, please write first).
My contact address is:

A new, more enticing and hardboiled than ever issue of Elysium Fanzine is out and available now!

In this thrilling 6th opus the private detective E. Lysium, secretively sneaking from the exciting dark shades of intoxicating urban landscapes and intriguing underground life of popcrime, reveals the secrets of Finland's finest in harmonic roots/guitar pop THE KRISPIES, bothers Seattle USA's punkpop kings SICKO with dozens of tricky questions about their actions and whereabouts, clobbers Finnish DIY tweepopsters CESSNA from behind and examines one of the biggest and most hush-hushed scams the City of Rockville has ever experienced: the 90's US POWER/GUITAR POP SCENE (the word on the streets tells that at least such big shots as GLADHANDS, COCKEYED GHOST, WHO HIT JOHN, CRUCES and SAMEASYOU, as well as the NYC guitar pop treat bakery BIG DEAL RECORDS are involved in the swindle).
To know more about these ghastly secrets and quench your thirst of curiosity, you just have to get Elysium Fanzine #6.
40 pro printed pages filled with small font text, bursting with information and dozens of opinionated reviews (incl. closer looks at zines, 'Arctic Surf', Pure Vinyl label and Frank Records).

Elysium is an English written fanzine for people who are interested in (or obsessed about, as the case may be) various forms of rock and pop music.
It's written by a music enthusiast for music enthusiasts, who prefer reading and finding out about actual (mostly new and unknown) music instead of Jarvis Cocker's latest glasses, the punk police politics or the amount of churches burnt down by Albanian black metallers.
The intention is not to only scratch the surface, but to explore deeper structures of rock & pop form. Elysium Fanzine is sincerely open for any type of rock and pop, but mostly concentrates (pretty conservatively, I admit!) on timeless, classic values of electric guitars, good tunes and the 'human touch' - putting the emphasis on rock, pop, punk, garage and all possible combinations and fusions of them. Elysium is a totally DIY and non-commercial vehicle of music-related hobby-journalism, information transmitting, support promotion and underground networking in order to spread the word about what's out out there, who put it out (and where and why and how), evaluate it a bit and enthuse over what is outstandingly cool.
To get a copy, send US$4 ($5 outside Europe!), or the equivalent sum in any exchangeable currency in cash (no coins, register the letter if you don't trust the mail!) to the address below. The price includes postage! You can also suggest a trade to a tape, record, zine or whatever, just write first, please!
I am desperately searching for distributors for the zine - if you have friends or other people you think you can sell some copies of my zine to, please let me know and we can work something out. The wholesale prices are low, trades possible and your help most appreciated!
Elysium #5 w/ the Posies, China Drum, the Hellacopters and comprehensive guide to Finnish guitar/powerpop (plus some silly aviation stuff + over 200 reviews!) is also still available (same prices!).
